Plain-language summary: Gaby collects nothing about you. Everything — your conversations, your profile, what Gaby remembers, your voice — stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers that we operate receive your data.
Gaby is an offline, on-device Spanish practice app. The AI that talks with you runs entirely on your iPhone. We do not have a backend, we do not have user accounts, and we never receive your messages, your voice, or any personal information. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing for us to sell, share, or lose.
None that leaves your device. Gaby does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server we control. We have no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
The following data is created and stored only on your device (in the app's local storage / iOS UserDefaults), and is removed when you delete the app:
None of this is ever sent off the device by Gaby.
Gaby asks for microphone and speech recognition access so you can
practice speaking Spanish. Gaby requests on-device speech recognition
(requiresOnDeviceRecognition), so your spoken audio is transcribed locally on
your iPhone. Your voice is not recorded to a file, is not sent to the
developer, and is not sent to any server we operate.
Speech recognition and text-to-speech are provided by Apple's operating-system frameworks. Their use is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
When you turn on translations, Gaby uses Apple's on-device Translation framework to translate between Spanish and your language. Translation runs locally; the developer receives nothing.
On first launch, Gaby downloads its language model (~1.8 GB) one time from Hugging Face so the app can run fully offline afterward. As with any internet download, your device connects to Hugging Face's servers and that request includes your device's IP address. Gaby sends no account information, profile, conversation, or other personal data in this request — it only fetches the model files. Hugging Face's handling of that connection is governed by their own privacy policy. After this one-time download, the model runs entirely on your device and your conversations never leave your iPhone.
If you enable practice reminders, Gaby schedules local notifications on your device. Reminder text is generated on-device. No notification data is sent to a server.
Gaby's only network activity is:
There is no other network communication, no telemetry, and no background data collection.
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose your data to anyone, because we do not collect it. There are no third-party data recipients.
Gaby does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains AI-generated conversational content (see the App Store age rating).
All data Gaby creates lives on your device. To delete it, delete the app — this removes your profile, conversations, memory, and preferences. There is no server-side copy to request.
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and post the revised policy at the same URL. Material changes will be reflected in a future app update.
